Re: Does PCTeX have proper e-TeX support?
(Cross-posted from LaTeX Community ) In trying to use the etoolbox package with PCTeX v6 (6.1, Build Fri Apr 16 13:29:46 2010), it looks like either PCTeX doesn't have e-TeX support, or etoolbox is checking for that support incorrectly. Since PCTeX didn't include etoolbox, or know how to get it fro...

Re: Help with fonts
I am seeking assistance with using some non-default fonts in PCTeX v6. I am attempting to format a paper using the style file found here: www.icgst.com/files/gvip.zip The archive includes a template TeX file and a PDF version. When I typeset the TeX file, I get a bunch of messages along the lines o...

Guidelines for suggesting new math symbols
Michael Spivak, the designer of MathTime Professional fonts, is planning to add new symbols to the MathTime Professional 2 (MTPro2) fonts, and would like user input. He writes: We are now soliciting suggestions for additional symbols to be added to the MTPro2 fonts. Opening Pandora's box in this way...

Re: Auto-complete commands
I appreciate most of the auto-complete behaviors, but there are two PCTeX6 auto-complete behaviors between which I find one annoying and do not consider it to be "auto-complete" and the other is not a correct "auto-complete." Within a list environment, I find it annoying that ev...

Re: Sizing Graphics
I copy graphs from Mathematica 6, save them as Windows bitmaps with SnagIt 9 and import them into my PCTeX 6 document with the Graphics Wizard. They look horrible in the dvi file! They seem to look okay in a pdf and printed from the pdf, but when they look so "blotchy" in the dvi, I'm ske...

Re: Two Faults of DVI Viewer
The DVI viewer of v6 beta, dated 4 Jan 2008, exhibits two unpleasant faults: ---Magnification Tool: a black rectangle shows up first, then the underlying text is displayed; thereafter, a click on another part of screen momentarily produces two black rectangles, the previous one and the new one. ---...

Installing a MTPro2 font in Y&Y TeX
I had little trouble installing mt2exa in Adobe Type Manager Deluxe 4.1 (ATM) under Windows XP SP2. Since an older version of mt2exa was already installed, the critical steps were: 1. In ATM, on the Add Fonts tab, Deactivate the existing MT2EXA from the font set that included it. (This has the effec...

Re: Custom Dictionary Backups
I would like to backup my custom dictionary. It used to be easy to find at C:\Program Files\PCTEX\PCTEXV6\CUSTOM.DIC, but now I cannot locate it. I'm running Vista, and the Dec. 3, 2007 beta. In the Dec 3, 2007 and later beta releases, user-specific files reside in the "Roaming" folder un...

Mike Spivak wrote: The best way to do this is \biggl(\sum_{xyz}xyz\biggr) \PARENS, or \LEFTRIGHT in general, was specifically designed for situations where very large delimiters might be needed, allowing one to get designed ones rather than extensible ones. Since th...

Subscripts look too large in $p_1p_2$
An MTPro2 user wrote: When I typeset $p_1p_2\ldots p_n$ the subscripts 1 and 2 look too large when placed next to the p. To compensate for this I use $p_{{}_1}p_{{}_2}\ldots p_n$ to use 2nd order subscripts (the n looks OK as a subscript). Is there a better way to do this? Michael Spivak answered: T...

Cancel typesetting
Most of the time, after an error is encountered, the <Esc> Cancel Typesetting shortcut key of PCTeX v6 (Build Thu Apr 19 2007) does not work... . Pressing Esc should cancel typesetting if the focus is in the Output window. Click on the output window to put the focus there, and then press Esc.

Re: MathTimePro2 not option for AIP style
A conference that I attended uses the American Institute of Physics http://proceedings.aip.org/proceedings/ to publish its proceedings. I downloaded the document class and found that it had support for many Math fonts, but not MathTimePro2. One of the other options will probably suffice for this on...

MTPro2 with Y&Y TeX
Reply from yandytex@tug.org list: I suppose in principle mtpro2 succeeds MathTime and I would prefer to use mtpro2. It works fine with MikTeX, Y&Y tex, and other tex/latex implementations that I've tried so far. There are some technical aspects, unfortunately, that have prevented me from switchi...
