AR8 incompatibility; dvi view scrolling; spell check
Here are my first impressions from PCTEX v.6: It is much quicker thanks to the new engine, thanks! Pctexv6 crashes Adobe Reader 8.0 in PDF mode. It displays the PDF file but the second time I click on Typeset, the Adobe Reader crashes. If I try to close the Adobe Reader before it crashes, this caus...

Missing cmex7, 8, 9 fonts
The cmex.tpm package file downloaded today (2006/12/12) didn't help; no wonder since part of its code reads: ... <TPM:Date>2005/07/08 18:29:50</TPM:Date> <TPM:Creator>rahtz</TPM:Creator> ... <TPM:RunFiles size="106962"> texmf-dist/fonts/map/dvips/cmex/ttcmex.map texmf-dist/fonts/type1/pub...

Re: Small problems
Every time I open PcTeX v6, it gives me an announcement that I have 30 days to register, even though I registered as soon as I updated to the new version last weekend. I tried registering, but no fresh new emails are sent from PcTeX. I inferred that I should just click "no" on the "d...

MTPro2 fonts wider than AMS and mathptmx fonts
[A MTPro2 user wrote:] After comparing MTPro2 Lite with some other fonts, we found that the math equations using MTPro2 Lite are not as compact as the default fonts of AMSLaTeX and the mathptmx fonts. In most cases the equations' length using MTpro2 is longer than using mathptmx or AMSLaTeX. For exa...

Re: Page size with geometry package
My document uses \documentclass[11pt,oneside,a4paper]{article} \usepackage[a4paper]{geometry} \begin{document} ... \end{document} When I translate the input file with regular latex (LaTeX2e <2006/06/01>) the printed area including heading fills about WxH=16.2cm x 24.5cm. When I translate the input ...

Re: fonts: ae and cmex, and PcTeX on a network client
(1) ae fonts were installed but the DVI viewer couldn't find the corresponding TFM files. It complained about a broken or missing aer10.tfm etc... I uninstalled ae from Tools/Packages... and reinstalled them again from there. Thereafter the tfm files were recognised and the DVI viewer used them. Th...

Re: Previewer
When previewing a dvi file, the behavior of the previewer is different than in Version 5 and, it seems to me, more awkward. In particular, the left and right arrow buttons on the main menu no longer function to move from page to page. This is a bug in v6, but only shows up in "Continuous"...

Can MTPro and MTPro2 be installed on the same system?
Will installing the new MathTimePro 2 Lite fonts affect the functionality of anything else in the program (e.g., bold math or any of the supplemental fonts that might have come with the original MathTimePro package: AMS symbols, Script, Fraktur, "Curly", and Blackboard fonts)? Will I lose...

Re: Installation Problemas
I have installed MTPro2 as described in the PCTeX website, according to instructions provided by Helmer Aslaksen. I use Miktex. I mean: I unpacked the fonts to the localtexmf directory and added the line Map mtpro2.map #localtexmf\dvips\mtpro\mtpro2.amp to updmap.cfg. Also updated the data base in ...
