Cannot do program updates

Even before the June 24 update, I have not been able to do updates directly, i.e. Help -> Updates -> Check for updates now. When I do that I get a window that says, “Could not contact update website. Please ensure you are connected, or try again later.� I know I am connected correctly to the internet as I have no problems with any other programs. I can manually go the the website, download the update and install. Was hoping the latest update would solve the problem, but no.
