INITeX problem / bad behavior

Post by Bruce.Filgate »

When INITeX was first run on the new Beta instalation, while reporting that it was successful, it also reported
TeX reported that it used ./texsys.aux, but that file doesn't exist.
a strangish error report.

Further, in the final part of the INITeX report is
Hyphenation trie of length 6075 has
where the word "trie" looks suspiciously like a spelling error.

That's the correct spelling. It's the name of a data structure used by TeX author Donald Knuth and others.

Trie is a real word, a "Knuthism"! Thanks, I had not run across that before, but I see the VMS version ot LaTeX had the same spelling.

Thoughts about the ./texsys.aux file not existing?

That's a minor bug. The texsys.aux file isn't found in the usual place when INITeXing. We'll fix this.
