OK, here's what's going on. 1. For some reason, amsmath.sty, or more precisely amstext.sty, which it uses, puts an extra set of braces around the definition of \text. This has the effect of making a_\text{b} work, even though any one reading the TeXBook, or any LaTeX manual would assume it _shouldn'...

Actually, it turned out that what was wanted was to have the rules above and below the integral signs, not near the top and bottoms. One might use \def\Rlint{\kern1pt\lower10.3pt \hbox{\vrule height.7pt width4pt}\kern-5pt\int} \def\Ruint{\kern7pt\raise14.8pt \hbox{\vrule height.8pt width4pt}\kern-11...

new symbols with macros
Back when we were soliciting new characters for MTProII, some one asked for \barint, saying that his constructed character didn't work well with limits. Since I was adding lots of characters at the time, I didn't think about this much, and just added \barint, followed later by \slashint. Some one ha...

Re: subscriptcorrection
No, and this shouldn't have anything to do with using the subscriptcorrection option. Whether or not it is used, _ will apply to the next token or group, and $a_\text$ should give an error That is not what I have experienced in the past. I have a number of documents where A_\text{B} was used in equ...

Re: subscriptcorrection
Hello, \documentclass{book} \usepackage{times,amsmath} \usepackage[subscriptcorrection]{mtpro2} \begin{document} $a_\text{eff}$ \end{document} The above example gives an error, can this be avoided without putting the subscript into extra braces? Michael No, and this shouldn't have anything to do wi...

Re: fine tuning kerns
I find the pairs involving \Theta, \Omega, \Phi quite tight. On the other hand, comparing mtpro2 with Y&Y's mathtime the equations take quite a bit of extra space. Michael I very much appreciate your looking at kernings, and will try to fix things up as much as possible. I'll take a look at the...

$-i\omega t$, $e^{i H_{0}t}$, $e^{-i H_{0}t}$ the distance behind the 'i' is a bit large IMO. Similar for the distance behind the prime in $\varepsilon,\varepsilon',\omega$. What do you mean by "behind". Do you mean to the left or to the right? I meant to the right, ie, IMO the distance b...

One final question: Is it possible to define a command that gives 'bold' math when used in 'normal' context but 'heavy' math when used in 'bold' context? No. (Note that the issue is in no way specific for MT-Pro!) Indeed, this is not an MTPro issue. However, MTPro provides heavy math (is there any ...

The following humongous document shows basically all pairs of characters in the "math italic" font, so that you can see the kerning between every pair. Only a maniac like me would try to look through the whole list, but if you have some characters and/or pairs that you use frequently, and ...

I find it unfortunate that one needs the option 'subscriptcorrection' to get things like
$\varepsilon_{j},\varepsilon_{k}, \varepsilon_{l}$
to look 'right'. Why is that needed?

The only thing worrying me is the thing about small variations in character positions in the pdf files. If that persists, please let me know. These variations are still present. http://www.causalproductions.com/JOBS/MTPRO2/test_latex_animated_comparison.gif This is a 2-image animated GIF of the top...

The .notdef warnings was not because something was wrong with the fonts but because something is silly with the previewer Michael, please tell me the cause of the .notdef warning, because I see it when other fonts pass through a RIP which I use occasionally. I'd like to know the cause. The previewe...
