The upside down omega is "\mho", (ohm backwards). I don't think there's an italic variant in MT2.

The extensible arrows are part of the "mathtools" package. See http://www.ctan.org/pkg/mathtools for details.

As a temporary fix, you can do \newcommand{\varv}{\ensuremath{\textit{v}}} which will give you "variant v" (hence \varv), so you can do \frac{d\varv{}}{dt} for exam...

I am not sure if Dr. Spivak is still taking requests for symbols, but here are my suggestions. 1. The italic lowercase letter 'y' in a more curvy format.
