IIRC, the shape that is "easier" to recognize as a Q has been chosen as the default one;
this was a deliberate decision.

With the latest (and hopefully final) beta release, the [boldalphabet] option does not exist any more, and the \mathbold alphabet is always available by default. Just read the announcement and the documentation! I have dared to introduce this change, because the were no reports about the boldalphabe...

Re: bad \sim in subscript, mtp2 beta 0.991
As a subscript, the \sim character is neither printing clearly nor previewing clearly in MiKTeX. [...] On the other hand, this symbol is OK in PCTeX. What do you mean by "MikTex" vs "PCTeX"? Did you create Postscipt or PDF output? Which Postscript or PDF viewer are you using? Ar...

Michael, the issue is not specific for the \text command: For instance, in standard LaTeX (without subscript correction) you can also write $a_\mathrm{b}$, whereas $a_\hat{b}$ would not work. That's why omitting the braces in these cases is dangerous and is never recommended. Maybe I should have wri...

Re: subscriptcorrection
In addition I suggest to add a line to the mtproII manual saying that bad style LaTeX such as a_\text{b} is not supported by MTProII. I suppose that should resolve the issue. Since we agree that the syntax in question is officially unsupported, anyway, this looks like an appropriate solution to me....

Re: subscriptcorrection
a_\text{b} works when I use Y&Y MathTime (mathtimy) I suppose it works only because you forgot to enable subscript correction with mathtimy (if it supports subscript correction at all). (If I'm wrong, I'd kindly ask you to send me the package code of mathtimy.) When I use (on a non-Y&Y-TeX-...

v0.991 -- an important request to the beta testers
Dear beta testers, from now on, please, load the mtpro2 package always with the option [boldalphabet], regardless of whether or not this is needed in fact.. It would be important for me to know whether doing so causes any compatibility problems with existing documents or macro packages. Please, try ...

Re: Y&Y and MiKTeX installation of MTPro
4. Compiled the same file as under A.3 with Y&Y latex. The text font that showed up in the DVI file was computer modern. I had to add \usepackage[LY1]{fontenc} before loading the times and mtpro2 packages. Then I got same result as with MiKTeX. Using LY1 encoding works fine with MiKTeX, too, so...

Please, tell me one other math font family where these \var... macros for the uc Greek letters are provided (and documented!). Besides, these macro names are unclear and misleading, anyway. On the other hand, the present interface of the mtpro2 package regarding Greek letters is compatible with many...

I find it unfortunate that one needs the option 'subscriptcorrection' to get things like $\varepsilon_{j},\varepsilon_{k}, \varepsilon_{l}$ to look 'right'. Why is that needed? ??? Because TeX can' t control that via font metrics alone. (Mike ?) Or are you asking why subscriptcorrection is not enab...
