In PCTeX 5.1, distributed document Test_latex.tex, changed in its preamble so as to use mtpro2 rather than mtpro (which was still in the preamble), fails to be TeX'ed at symbols \varGamma and \varOmega, which are tagges in the log as undefined control sequences.

NOTE: It would greatly help tohave the .dtx (?) source for mtpro2.pdf, so we can test all the stuff there with these fonts.

The \var... macros were never officially documented; yet, they were
still declared in mtpro.sty, but I have finally removed them now.
The new naming scheme for the Greek letters is much clearer,
and it is compatible with other packages.

@Lance: Please, fix the test document. Thanks!

The .dtx source should reside in $TEXMF/source/latex/mtpro2/.
Doesn't it?

This has been fixed in the distribution. You may pull down a new copy --- use the url in the original email we sent.

There is a dummy file there. We discussed leaving out the complete source until the macros were nearly ready for release. Let me know if you would like to include it.

The \var... macros are essential for a consistent markup and using MTPro fonts as drop-in replacement with existing projects. Otherwise one would need a complete rework of the markup just for using the MTPro fonts. With an interface only specific to MTPro macros one would have to made projects specially for using MTPro and could not otherwise use them later on.
This would apply to all specifically introduced conventions. There is certainly no problem with specific extensions but at least existing features must be supported.

Please, tell me one other math font family where these \var... macros
for the uc Greek letters are provided (and documented!).
Besides, these macro names are unclear and misleading, anyway.

On the other hand, the present interface of the mtpro2 package
regarding Greek letters is compatible with many other existing
font families. (A long-term strategy of mine, to be honest.)
